🛈 Choosing an icon
Each type can have a small icon (usually an emoji) to make it easier to recognise.
You can add an icon in two ways:
-
Copy & paste from an emoji website
-
Open
getemoji.com
or
emojipedia.org - Find an emoji you like
- Copy the emoji character itself (not the name or code)
- Paste it into the Icon field and save
-
Open
-
Use the built-in emoji picker
Click in the Icon field to open the picker.
Note: The picker loads a large list of emojis, so it may take a few seconds to appear the first time.
Tip: Simple emojis work best (e.g. 🍺 🏃 🚶 ❌ ✅ 🔒)

🛈 Updating the emoji list
The function below allows administrators to upload a new version of the emoji list
used by the icon picker.
Where to get the emoji file
Download the official Emojibase raw emoji dataset:
-
Emojibase – data.raw.json
https://github.com/milesj/emojibase/tree/master/packages/data/en
How to prepare the file
- Download
data.raw.jsonfrom the link above -
Ensure the file is Emojibase
data.raw.jsonand contains
"emoji"and"label"fields - Do not rename the file — it will be renamed automatically when uploaded
What happens when you upload
- The JSON file is validated for compatibility
- The number of usable emojis is counted
- The existing emoji file is backed up automatically
- The new file replaces it immediately if valid
If the file is invalid, it will not replace the existing emoji list.
You do not have permission to manage emoji data.
