Run #2453

BH7 #2453 - The Long Man, Wilmington - I'm sure the last time we ran from here the weather had also been awful and the start was like a bog... Down to the A27 out of pub and (not unsurprisingly) turn back S over the little bridge and the start of the ascent; up the trail, somehow one of our number ended up the wrong side of the fence, popping his little head through the gaps but unable to make his way through - poor Merlin struggled but eventually jumped the barbed wire and re-joined Balinor on trail. A check left then a right turn would see the pack (now with added OH, who had been late to the show) continue S/SW and uphill to the base of the Long Man, with mist meaning little else except legs could be seen. A check here saw OH and myself heading N down the track, expecting to be on a false trail but actually catching true trail. Straight down to The Street, turning right then left through the church. Apparently the group gathered here but I was out in front and so made it to Milton Street before FH meant a turnabout and rather a long run back... Eventually straight over at Milton Street, cutting off the corner with The Sussex Ox that was beautifully lit up (as found on a wrong check) before turning NNE onto the footpath at the corner of Milton Street, then back E, over Milton Street, back to The Street and On Inn.
In t' pub, Mudlark would be called up first as hare, with DD to "Here's To The Hare". And then a number of 'stupid' offences: Tripsy Daisy (for wearing her blue overshoes out of the pub), Merlin (taken by Balinor) (for ending up the wrong side of the fence near the start), and Keeps It Up (who had apparently kicked the dog, although he denied it profusely...); DDs, of course, to "Stupid". A swift round of DDs concluded, details for next week's hash were relayed (myself at The Cleveland in Brighton) before glasses were raised in a toast, closing out yet another great hash. - Nasty Nips
