Run #2349
19/02/2024
Keymer
New start time of 19:00
#2349 The Greyhound, Keymer - With chalk talk nervously given by virgin hare Private Dancer, and co-hared by also virgin hare ZZ Topless, PD and ZZT led the hash from the pub car park marking several rather large flour arrows on the floor. Cries of "Don't waste all your flour" and similar were heard from several corners! And so the pack set forth W and then immediately S on Lodge Ln, and on to check just after Dale Ave; plenty of shiggy could be found down the alleyway turned footpath, but alas true trail continued S on Lodge Ln, crossing New Rd/B2112. The first of the promised three fishhooks (for 8) was found just before Lodge Ln turned E, with the trail turning W onto the footpath, following around the lake to Underhill Ln and a second fishhook (for 6). Trail continued fast paced E on Underhill Ln with check just before the end of Lodge Ln yielding true trail on E then S at Burnthouse Bostall. A 3-way check partway up found an abundance of shiggy up the hill, yet true trail lay E through the field. Another check with trail on footpath continuing E and then joining the South Downs Way. Nearing the summit of Ditchling Beacon the FRBs came across the third fishhook (for 7) and then onto a RG before crossing Ditchling Rd and a check. Trail continued down the footpath next to Ditchling Bostall all the way to Underhill Ln, where it then turned W and then immediately N on Nye Ln, continuing N to the end of path/road, and onto footpath turning E to Beacon Rd. Over the road at Long Park Corner and immediately taking the footpath W between the houses (and it was around here that some of the pack became a little lost, including hare ZZT), turning N and over the βroundaboutβ at Neville Cottages. Trail continued N to the corner of Beacon Rd and New Rd/B2112, turning W along New Rd until the footpath into fields on the N side of road. Footpath was followed around to / onto The Drove, then W onto Keymer Rd / B2116 and into the Car Park for Sip Stop. FRBs found hare PD already at Sip, having cut short through Ditchling. Slowly the pack turned up, with Psyclepath, Angel and ZZT the last to arrive having got lost on trail. On Inn was W on Keymer Rd / B2116 all the way to the pub. Nasty Nips RAing again, with random fact of the day - it was "International Tug of War Day"; it is known that tug of war was practiced in Ancient Egypt, Greece, India and China in c.1000BC, making it nearly as old as the hash! And so on to the DDs: ZZT called up for haring, but also heard from a passerby to 1 Erection "Ooh, is that a horse coming down the hill beyond you?" (in reference to ZZT!). DD to "Here's to the hare". Then PD with a special song requested by 1E, "Private Dancer" by Tina Turner - DD to the alternative Lyrics below... Then Ride It Baby called up for 'following the pats' (in relation to flour on cowpats); DD to "10,9,8". Next up ZZT again and Bouncer, for both getting lost on trail; DD to "You're Stupid". Then another lost soul, Angel, heard to be moaning at the Sip, but called up for helping PsyP and ZZT get back on trail; DD to "She's Alright". And finally, the Numpty was awarded to PD. Why? Because the usually FRB had decided to leave the car keys for the Sip with ZZT! DD to (of course) another rendition of "You're Stupid". - Nasty Nips
