Run #2375

19/08/2024
Ditchling
New start time of 19:00.
#2375 - The White Horse, Ditchling - A virgin hooker? I suppose everyone has to start somewhere, and where better than your local? Hares Oral Hooker & Private Dancer would show the hash a good time, take it to new heights... Okay, I'll stop it now! It should also be noted that tonight would see a Super Blue Moon with its peak at 7:26, a fact related to all gathered by Bathe It Daily. The hash set off W along Keymer Rd, turning S down The Drove, into the field and over the B2112 (New Rd). Turning E to Beacon Rd and then up the footpath to Neville Cottages where the pack would turn W / S through the fields and all the way to Underhill Ln. A quick stop in the car park at 7:26 would see Bathe It Daily getting a full moon photo of several hashers (that's NOT the moon in the sky...). Trail continued E then turning S up the trail adjacent to Ditchling Bostall; a nasty FH for 2 awaited Little Swinger and Nasty Nips at the top (apparently set just for them!); a quick regroup at the top would see another full moon hash photograph but alas with no moon visible in the sky the hash would have to somehow make do... Trail resumed E turning off the South Downs Way and down the first pass to Westmeston with another fishhook en-route. At the junction of Underhill Ln / The St / Lewes Rd, Bathe It Daily once again managed to get moon-related photos, this time of the Half Moon Plumpton road sign along with new hasher Just Katy baring just one cheek for him! Continuing N up Lewes Rd, trail would turn NW into the fields, through the woods and join Ditchling at Shirleys. Turning W at the end of the road and back onto Lewes Rd the hash was almost back to the pub. But no, the hares had other ideas and took the pack through one last detour N into East End Ln before finally turning S down The Twitten (a risky move considering the hash the week prior had also run down this route), and finally On Inn.

Back at the pub, circle was called and OH + PD were called up for the first DDs to the tune of "Here's to the Hares". With a number of charges, mentions only for returnees Nobby Chick and Chris. Then virgins AND visitors Just Tim and Just Jo were called up, visiting from Australia. Joining them virgin Just Katy. All were asked the prerequisite questions (Was it long enough? Was it hard enough? Who made you come? Will you come again?) with all responding firmly in the positive to that last one. DDs to "All Australians". Next up, Bathe It Daily (for being absolutely Moon-obsessed this evening) and ZZ Topless (for having a bottle of wine at lunch and then talking about trying everything to get ready and having to cleanse her third eye!); ZZT would nominate PD as she was reducing her drinking (after a bottle a lunch?!). DDs to "This is your down down song". Then, notable runs were called up with Pompette (awarded her 500th tankard) and Trouble (for her 100th hash). It was noted that Trouble, usually so loud and vocal, had not made much noise about her pending 100th and so On On Don had yet to get her a tankard made up. NN presented Pompette hers, noting that Bob had told her to 'continue hashing and get that 500'. With a selection of ales, Pompette was heard to enquiry which glass had the most before one would be poured into the tankard. DDs for both to "Get a life". Last up for charges, SCBing right at the end (continuing along Lewes Rd rather than taking the East End Ln turn) would be Knightrider and ZZT. Keeps It Up would also note that ZZT (not knowing what it was) grabbed an electric fence earlier! Luckily it was off. ZZT this time elected NOT to nominate. DDs to "You're Stupid". And finally, a naming for new hasher Just Katy. Yes, on her maiden run Just Katy had exhibited enough craziness to earn herself a moniker with her photo at the road sign - the choice was put to the choice and a resounding cheer was given. And so Just Katy was anointed with beer to arise as the harriet "Half Moon", with a DD to "Little Flat Jessie". And so ended a slightly crazy hash. Perhaps the moon affects hashers the same way it affects some animals? - Nasty Nips
