Run #2385
28/10/2024
Shoreham-by-Sea
New start time of 19:00. Fancy Dress Halloween Hash!
#2385 The Amsterdam Inn, Shoreham - BH7's Halloween Hash would find various creatures and ghouls assembled at the Amsterdam Inn, with Bouncer welcoming all and noting that along with being the Halloween Hash tonight was also BH7's 'World Peace through Beer' hash, the nearest hash to UN Day (based around the premise that if you have a beer in your hand you cannot operate a gun! And there would be a few fishhooks, all numbering 6, and so it was left to the hash to guess how many there might be... And sights enroute would include Dracula's Castle, The Asylum, ruins, Amityville and The Witches Patch (to mention just a few).
And so the hash set off W over the Old Shoreham Toll Bridge (footbridge), turning N alongside the Adur with the first fishhook encountered just after passing under the A27. Trail continued following the Adur (and another fishhook) turning S over Coombes Rd, up the embankment into Lancing College grounds (aka Dracula's Castle), around the edge of the pitch and routing around to the road headed S out of the college grounds. Headed down the hill, trail turned into the field to the T-junction of The Drive where the pack would then head back up the hill before turning off W along the footpath. A cottage on the right with cat themes (on the corner of Hoe Ct road) was noted (although the fishhook just before it had been missed by all). Trail continued W along the footpath turning S and following the edge of Lancing to the Leisure Centre, over the A27 and onto Manor Wy and left (E) on Brimstone Rd (a very appropriate name for the evening!). A full loop around the new park would find the pack headed back on themselves and onto Sip just off the roundabout. On Inn along Rose St / Old Shoreham Rd (through the airport) and back over the footbridge.
Back at the Inn, and with NN RAing, the assembled mass were asked their option of the hash and the usual abuse was levied at the hares. And so the hares were called up; NN asked Bouncer for a halloween-themed song but none was forthcoming and so DDs for the three to the tune of "Here's to the Hares". Next up, Private Dancer - in the pub after the previous hash PD had realised at 10pm that he was supposed to be on a work call, and during tonight's hash he had been on the phone again for work; DD to "Get A Life". And finally the best dressed hashers, with nominations to Ride It Baby, Rocks On, and Wildbush; with resounding cheers for all three, all were called up. Bouncer had managed to find an evening-appropriate song, leading the hash into "The Hash House Harriers" (to the tune of "The Addams Family") - lyrics below.
A reminder was given that the Christmas Hash would be on 23rd December from The Ladies Mile (Brighton) and that the webpage was open for sign-up, before another evening was wrapped up. -Nasty Nips
The Hash House Harriers (to the tune of 'The Addams Family')
~~~~
Their drinking is compulsive,
their running is convulsive.
They're morally repulsive,
The Hash House Harriers.
CHORUS: Da da da da (snap fingers twice)
Da da da da (snap fingers twice)
Da da da da, da da da da, da da da da
Their flatulence is rude and
their genitals protrude.
They're running in the nude, in
The Hash House Harriers.
They're always shiggy tracking,
From constantly bush-whacking.
Intelligence they're lacking,
The Hash House Harriers.
CHORUS: Down down down down (snap fingers twice)
etc.
