BH7 #2465 : The White Horse, Ditchling - If memory serves me right, this re-hash really begins in a different pub sometime in 2025; Peter Pansy and Penguin Shagger, in post-hash chatter with Little Swinger and myself, came up with the idea of a 'no check' hash, relying on only fishhooks. They tried this on their last hash but bottled it and ultimately stuck in three checks. This time... well, they had expanded on the idea even more...

With the clock hitting 7pm everyone was called outside for the chalk talk; after some PP waffling, he managed to regain everyone's attention when he mentioned 'photographs of hashers' out on trail. It transpired that the hares had managed to get photos of a number of hashers and these would form the basis for some of the fishhooks out on trail - no matter where you were in the group, if your photo came up, off to the back you go! And, with that in mind (and a cheeky suggestion that whoever comes across KIUs just keeps moving it!) the pack set off out E along Lewes Rd and a pair of FHs before turning S down The Shirleys then the footpath SE to Westmeston. Somewhere around here (for there were A LOT of FHs) KIU would indeed come across his photo. A broken piston on a new Monday Group gate just before Westmeston (The Street) would see me holding up a few tail-end runners (sorry, I just hated not fixing it!) and then up Westmeston Bostal along with more FHs, including photos for Wilds Thing, Little Swinger (sadly absent) and myself. Trail continued all the way up to the top before turning W to Ditchling Rd. A quick RG here and photo-op before N down Ditchling Bostal trail (and a few more FHs, including photos for Pondweed (also absent) and someone else) then to Underhill Lane, Nye Lane and another FH. Finally, a turn W cutting through to Beacon Rd and Sip Stop by the EverFlyht vineyard where Come Again would serve some lovely bread, cheese, pickled onions and some mint-flavoured spirits. On Inn N along Ditchling Rd. Yes, that's correct - PP and PS had managed to set a hash without a single check, using only fishhooks. Perhaps even more amazingly (and especially given the number of FHs), the route measured just under 5 miles (for those not doing a single FH) and even under 10km for myself.

Back at the pub, the hare song was sung for PS and PP (it turning out that PS is also being fast at DDs) before Come Again was called up for a Hashy Beerday and for organising the sip; as a gentleman I offered '21 again', only for CA to announce 'times 3 plus 2'... Oh well, I tried. Next up, stupid is as stupid does, for Tripsy was once again injured, this time her arm in a sling after a kayaking accident - 'merely' dislocated, but my initial announcement of 'fractured in 7 places' got everyone listening! 😀 Joining her for stupid would be the hares again, after CA's car had a notice stuck on the front that she had parked on private property (at the suggestion of PP). Naughty Gomi received "No, No, No" as punishment for sitting on the tailgate at the sip stop and blocking the bread (which drew a 'what bread?' from Wilds Thing), although it was also noted that he was acting as our ambassador to four Dutch visitors who just happened to be in the pub. And finally, KIU & WB for no other reason than their imminent departure (but noted that KIU was caught urinating on trail again at the back of one of the many FHs!); DD to "10, 9, 8".
