#2371 - The Jack and Jill, Clayton - A supposedly-short hash by the lesser-spotted Pondweed crossed the A273, proceeding through Clayton Rec Ground and straight up the trail opposite, turning E parallel to (and then joining) Underhill Ln. A swing N onto Spring Ln, over the B2112, N a little more and then W over the train tracks, the A273 (again) and to the woods. A long-run check S and early call here by FRBs Private Dancer and Nasty Nips had the hare calling on N instead - PD and NN hadn't realised quite where the next turn would have led and the hash wasn't THAT short! Trail continued N / NW onto the northern portion of New Way Ln, before continuing NW, turning W / SW just before Tott Ln. Trail continued S passing by Danny House, where a fishhook (actually the third fishhook of the day) just before New Way Ln would find the group heavily split and the FRBs running back passed Danny House before the back of the pack would be encountered. Over New Way Ln, E passed Hautboys and then S (at PD's and NN's earlier false call) down to New Way Ln and On Inn.
At the pub, BQ would RA, leading to Hash Gomi to point out that there should be no female RAs! First up for DDs, Hare 'Councillor' Fukarwe, who it was noted had left Ride It Baby without a lift (he claimed to just not hear the door...); DD to "10,9,8". BQ then noted that today would be a 'Persecution of the Females' as her listed of offences seemed to be levied against the ladies of the group. And so to start, Just Naomi, for (1) thinking her hash name was 'Just Naomi', (2) running back on a fishhook 6 when she was the 7th, (3) calling check on an arrow, and (4) just not knowing how long she's been hashing; nominated Come Again (as driving). Joining her would be Wildbush, complaining about people playing with her nipples and wanting a break from it, and BQ herself (nominating Just Helen) as she had been heard to exclaim 'You don't have to be fit it's all in the technique' (about gate crossing), she had encouraged Rebel WHK not to run all the way back on a FH, and that she had missed last week's hash due to a night out and was then heard to be gloating about missing the rain; DDs for all to "Little Flat Jessies". Next up, Bouncer, for running through the river instead of following the hash route, and then realising he hadn't brought spare shoes along! DD to "10,9,8". And finally, glasses were raised to Prof, who had sadly passed away a few days prior. Bouncer stated that Prof had hated 1/3rd of a pint DDs and thought they should all be pints, with a countering from St Bernard that Prof was slow enough with 1/3rds! And so closed out another great hash. Oh, and that short hash we had been promised? Several hashers came in at 11.5km (just over 7 miles). No wonder Brighton council is in money trouble if its councillors can't get their figures right! 😀 - Nasty Nips
