BH7 #2463 : The Downs Hotel, Woodingdean - BH7 last gathered at the Downs Hotel in Woodingdean on 24th February 2014 (hash #1862), hared by Hash Gomi and Knightrider. As such, we were well overdue a return here, and with a 2-for-1 offer on pizzas and burgers (except, there were no pizzas) and Harvey's on tap everything else fell down to Ride It Baby to organise. Pondweed (apparently) helped, a matter he was quick to make sure I was aware of before we had even left the pub; these councillors will do anything to save £1! 😀

So the pack set forth out of pub W along Warren Road before a quick turn N up Downsway at the first check. Peter Pansy, pushing ahead as usual, was quickly seen headed back down from the first FH; except, this fishhook was one he had added of his own volition and with his own (blue) chalk... Three innocent hashers would be caught out by this, unwittingly joining PP to the back of the pack. Trail continued over Falmer Road and N to the car park and onto check, with true trail being NE along the middle of three options and up to the transmitter tower (but not before the first official FH); Wilds Thing would nearly be taken out by a cyclist headed down the path (WT listening to his headphones it appears), and Keeps It Up (when counted out on the fishhook by myself as #1) called out that he was "not on trail" as he ambled alongside the smaller footpath running parallel. Left at the Y-junction, then right into the field and right again to follow trail all the way down to Balsdean (misheard as "Balls deep" by some!) and a quick stop at the church remnants plaque, but not before another FH enroute. Trail headed out S at the crossroads turning around W then NW back to Woodingdean, finding PP dragging hare RIB along by the hand. A final left (W) turn down onto Balsdean Rd / Warren Way would find the pack headed On Inn.

Back at the pub, the facts of the last hash from her were recounted to those gathered, with RIB and PW called up as hares; DDs to "Here's to the hares". In non-hash matters, the amazing time at London Marathon by Yomif Kejelcha (1:59:41) was noted; an amazing sub-2 effort and still not first place, second to Sebastian Sawe's 1:59:30. However, Yomif's feat was made even more amazing by the fact that this was his debut marathon! Joining him, both on the day and as her debut marathon, was BH7-represent Half Moon, complete with T-shirt and medal bling. When asked if she vomited (this author already knew the answer) she proudly answered "Yes. Twice!". Joining her for a racism charge would be PP, mainly for drawing a FH before we had even gone a half-mile; DDs to "10,9,8". Next up (and originally my 'finally'), WT for nearly being taken out by a bike and KIU for his 'not on trail' remark at the FH; DDs to "Stupid". And now finally, at the request of the hare, 'Just Fred' (Half Moon's other half) who RIB didn't realise hadn't even run with us and had actually remained behind as barfly. As a non-drinker, a quick water DD was mustered up and the questions asked, although JF played along brilliantly, answering 'too long', 'too hard', 'her' (pointing to HM) and 'yes' to the usual questions; DD to "Virgins".

With next week's hash announced (hopefully WITH pizzas since they're famous for them) and no other business, the evening was closed out with the toast to the hash. On On - Nasty Nips
